In {{2v2|Nero|Bianco}}, viene introdotto il concetto di [[stagione]]. Sono simile alle stagioni del mondo reale tranne il fatto che cambiano ogni mese per avere un gameplay meno restrittivo.
Le stagioni influenzano l'ora del giorno. Viene inoltre introdotta la sera.

▲Le stagioni influenzano l'ora del giorno. La mattina inizia un'ora prima in estate, mentre inizia un'ora più tardi in inverno. Il giorno dura un'ora di più in estate ed è di un'ora più corto in inverno. In primavera e in autunno, la divisione periodo di tempo è la stessa presente nella quarta generazione. Inoltre, è possibile trovare alcuni Pokémon solo in determnate stagioni.
Non sono più presenti le stagioni e gli intervalli della mattina, giorno, sera e notte sono costanti. In conpenso la grafica dell'overworld e l'alternasi della sua luminosità risulta più fluida: diversamente dalle precedenti generazioni le transizioni fra gli intervalli temporali ora possono durare da pochi secondi fino a 15 minuti.
