Blu compare per la prima volta a [[Biancavilla]], dove incontra {{OBP|Rosso|Origini}} mentre si dirigono da [[Professor Oak]] per ricevere il loro primo Pokémon. Dopo aver gareggiato per arrivare prima dell'altro al [[Laboratorio del Professor Oak|laboratorio di Oak]], Blu riceve un [[Pokédex]] e sceglie [[Squirtle]], visto che ha il vantaggio del tipo sul [[Charmander]] di Rosso.
