Prima di unirsi alla squadra di Brock nell'episodio ''[[AG012|Tutti frutti]]'', [[Lotad]] faceva parte di un gruppo di Lotad che vivevano in un lago vicino ad un Negozio di Fiori tra [[Petalipoli]] e [[Ferrugipoli]]. Era piuttosto imbranato ripetto agli altri Lotad ad innaffiare il giardino del negozio, ma grazie all'incoraggiamento di Brock, alla fine riesce anch'egli a bagnare le piante. Subito dopo, si unisce a Brock dopo aver salvato i suoi compagni dal {{TRT}}.

Lotad's personality was somewhat similar to that of [[Misty's Psyduck]], although not as frustrating to its Trainer, as Brock is much more patient then {{an|Misty}} was. It usually had a vacant stare about it and was slow to react to the events occurring around it. Nevertheless, it remained a trustworthy Pokémon when called upon to do battle or to aid Brock (its lily pad makes for a handy table). It stood loyally by Brock's side when he nursed an injured {{p|Sharpedo}} back to health in episode ''[[AG019|Sharpedo Attack!]]''.
During the events of the episode ''[[AG025|A Mudkip Mission]]'', Lotad rescued some {{p|Mudkip}}, one of which Brock captured. Since then, the two {{type|Water}}s would often be used together, usually to launch a dual {{m|Water Gun}} attack.

La personalità di Lotad assomiglia molto a quella dello [[Psyduck di Misty]], anche se non arriva mai al punto di fare arrabbiare il suo Allenatore, visto che Brock è molto più paziente di quanto fosse {{an|Misty}}. Di solito ha uno sguardo vacuo ed è lento a reagire a ciò che gli sta succedendo intorno. Non di meno, rimane un Pokémon fedelissimo quando viene chiamato per una lotta o per aiutare Brock (la sua foglia funge spesso da tavolino). Rimane al suo fianco fedelmente quando Brock si prende cura di uno [[Sharpedo]] ferito in ''[[AG019|Attacco marino]]''. Durante gli eventi dell'episodio ''[[AG025|L'uomo della palude]]'', Lotad salva dei [[Mudkip]], uno dei quali verrà poi catturato da Brock. Da allora, i due Pokémon {{t|Acqua}} vengono usati spesso insieme, solitamente usando un doppio attacco {{m|Pistolacqua}}.

Lotad evolved in ''[[AG063|O Solrock mio!]]'', after falling into an empty well. The people of the nearby village claimed {{p|Lombre}} as their "Water Lord," and hoped that it would be able to end the drought blamed on a {{p|Solrock}}. As a Lombre, it continues to be used often alongside [[Brock's Marshtomp|Mudkip]]. Because it looks similar to a sombrero-wearing human, Lombre has performed alongside Brock in his [[Takeshi's Paradise]] outfit.
