Anche se completamente fatto di cristallo, l'Onix di Cristallo è anche unico rispetto agli altri Onix poiché riesce a vivere nell'acqua senza soffrirne. La sua pelle di vetro gli da inoltre una grande resistenza agli attacchi di {{tipo2|Acqua}}. Mateo realizza che deve usare altri tipi di attacco per indebolirlo e, così, utilizza il suo [[Charmeleon]] per colpirlo con {{m|Turbofuoco}}: sembra che Onix sia debole al {{tipo2|Fuoco}}, diversamente dagli altri della sua specie. Mateo lo sta per catturare quando capisce che non ha bisogno di lui: solo l'aver lottato contro di lui gli ha dato l'ispirazione giusta per poter creare statuette di vetro di Pokémon. Ringrazia quindi l'Onix di Cristallo mentre questi si immerge nell'acqua.

Besides being made of crystal, the Crystal Onix is also unique from other Onix in that it can live in water without being hurt by it. Its glass skin also gives it a special resistance to {{type|Water}} attacks. Mateo realized that he would have to use a different type of attack to weaken it and so, he used his {{p|Charmeleon}} and attacked it with {{m|Fire Spin}}. It seemed to have a weakness to {{type|Fire}} attacks, unlike other Onix. Mateo was just about to capture it when he realized that he didn't need to. Just battling it gave him the inspiration he needed to create glass Pokémon sculptures. He thanked the Crystal Onix as it submerged itself into the water once more.
