Durante la Battle Royale, ogni Pokémon in campo può bersagliare con le sue [[Mossa|mosse]] come bersaglio. Se un Pokémon va [[KO]], tutte le mosse successive che avrebbero avuto quel Pokémon come unico bersaglio falliranno. Le mosse che colpiscono più di un bersaglio colpiranno tutti e tre gli avversari, ma la [[potenza]] base della mossa è ridotta del 50%.
Le mosse che creano [[entry hazard]] avranno effetto su tutti e tre i lati del campo dell'avversario. [[Pirolancio]] infliggerà il [[danno]] extra a entrambi gli avversari che non sono bersaglio della mossa, indipendentemente dalle loro posizioni relative. [[Sosia]] copierà il Pokémon direttamente opposto a quello del Pokémon con l'[[abilità]].
Non è possibile [[Fuga|fuggire]] da una Battle Royale.
==Punteggio==
Se il Pokémon di un Allenatore manda KO uno di quelli degli avversari, farà guadagnare un punto al suo proprietario. Se il Pokémon va invece KO a seguito di danni indiretti, come il danno di una [[scottatura]] o una entry hazard, il punto viene assegnato all'Allenatore del Pokémon che ha fatto sì che questo danno indiretto avvenisse. Se un Pokémon va KO per danni o effetti autoinflitti, ad esempio per via di [[Esplosione]] o di una mossa che causa [[contraccolpo]], non verrà assegnato alcun punto.
La lotta termina alla fine del primo turno in cui un Allenatore si ritrova senza Pokémon perché sono tutti KO. Il vincitore è determinato sommando i punti dei KO e il numero di Pokémon rimasti. In caso di pareggio, il vincitore viene determinato in base ai {{stat|PS}} rimanenti dei Pokémon della squadra.

Battle Royals were first introduced in ''[[SM063|Pushing the Fiery Envelope!]]''. {{Ash}} watched a televised match of the {{an|Professor Kukui|Masked Royal}} taking on [[Battle Royal Trainers|three other Trainers]] and their {{p|Machamp}}, {{p|Primarina}}, and {{p|Decidueye}} at the [[Battle Royal Dome]], easily defeating all three opposing Pokémon with his {{TP|Professor Kukui|Incineroar}}. The Masked Royal then announced an event where any volunteers would get a chance to face him in a Battle Royal, prompting Ash and {{ashcl}} to travel to the Battle Royal Dome.
Due to Ash's {{p|Litten}} jumping down from the stands to face its evolved form, the Masked Royal chose to invite Ash in a Battle Royal, along with {{an|Kiawe}} and {{an|Sophocles}}. However, even when holding back, the Masked Royal's Incineroar was more than a match for all of its opponents, easily defeating [[Kiawe's Marowak]] and [[Sophocles's Charjabug]] with a {{m|Darkest Lariat}}. Although Litten managed to endure the Darkest Lariat, it too was quickly felled when the Masked Royal, having finally decided to get serious, had Incineroar use a {{m|Bulk Up}}-enhanced {{m|Throat Chop}} on the Fire Cat Pokémon.
In ''[[SM081|A Young Royal Flame Ignites!]]'', a group of rule-breaking Battle Royal Trainers called the [[Revengers]] challenged the Masked Royal to a match for the title of the strongest Trainer at the Battle Royal Dome. However, when the Revengers started attacking the Masked Royal's Incineroar before the battle had even begun, [[Ash's Torracat]] leaped down from the stands and stopped them. The boss of the Revengers, [[Viren]], then appeared and challenged the Masked Royal and Ash to a tag match, threatening to buy out the dome should they lose. The two accepted the challenge, and the Masked Royal gave Ash a mask of his own, giving him his own Battle Royal identity as the "Ash Royal". During the tag match, both sides kept swapping turns with their partners, with Incineroar and Torracat facing off against [[Mad Magmar]]'s {{p|Magmortar}} and [[Mr. Electric]]'s {{p|Electivire}}. Despite the Revengers once again trying to fight dirty, the Masked Royal and Ash were able to win the match, with Torracat even learning {{m|Revenge}} in the process. Although Viren tried to force his way despite the loss, the "Double Royals" easily swept him aside, securing the dome's future.
In ''[[SM129|Battle Royal 151!]]'', the preliminary round of the [[Manalo Conference]] was a massive Battle Royal between the 151 competing Trainers. The Battle Royal was called off when 16 Trainers remained, moving said Trainers on to the actual tournament.
