Nei pressi di [[Fiorpescopoli]], il {{LGA|Professor Oak}} sta provando a catturare un gruppo di [[Slugma]]. Fallisce nella cattura e si lamenta del fatto che non troverà mai un'abile allenatore in grado di completare il nuovo [[Pokédex]] contenente i nuovi Pokémon di [[Johto]]. Successivamente, {{LGA|Bill}} chiama Oak al suo secondo Laboratorio di ricerca di Fiorpescopoli e gli comunica che ha trovato qualcuno che completerà il Pokédex ma ad una richiesta. Bill manda le informazioni ad Oak per trovare questa persona: "alle 15:00 di quel giorno a [[Violapoli]]".

Un bambino chiama Cristallo per giocare con lei, quando un gruppo di Slugma entra dalla staccionata ed attacca la scuola.
