La Poké Ball Plus può essere usata anche al posto di un [[Pokémon GO Plus]]. Quando un Pokémon appare nei paraggi in Pokémon GO, la Poké Ball Plus si illuminerà e vibrerà. Premendo un pulsante della periferica verrà lanciata una Poké Ball e la Poké Ball Plus si illuminerà in modi diversi per informare il giocatore che il Pokémon è stato catturato. Inoltre è anche un {{wp|podometro|contapassi}}, e permette alle {{pkmn2|Uova}} di schiudersi e di ottenere caramelle dal [[Pokémon compagno]].
