A Pokémon is considered to have beaten the previous record if its calculated size in feet and inches (in millimeters in non-English games) is greater than the previous record. The prize is an [[Ether]] in {{game|Gold and Silver|s}} and an [[Elixir]] in {{game|Crystal}}. In English, there are 16 distinct Magikarp sizes bigger than the initial record (meaning the player can obtain the prize at most 16 times); in other languages, there are 431.
